ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST
Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY is currently accepting applications for an Accounting Specialist. This is a full-time, permanent role offering competitive benefits and the opportunity to support a world-renowned equine hospital through accurate, compliant, and efficient financial operations.
As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting hospital operations across multiple entities. This position works closely with internal teams and requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and professionalism. This role is on-site at our Lexington, KY location.
Primary Duties
• Process accounts payable transactions for all Rood & Riddle entities.
• Manage intercompany billing, allocations, and reconciliations across affiliated entities.
• Process and track employee expense reimbursements in compliance with company policy.
• Assist with month-end activities, audits, and annual financial reviews.
• Complete and manage 1099 processing for all Rood & Riddle entities.
• Process and reconcile professional liability insurance on a monthly basis.
• Review, code, and process corporate credit card transactions using Concur.
• Apply appropriate general ledger coding and record transactions monthly.
• Support cardholders with reporting, transaction issues, and international travel needs.
• Coordinate with Central Bank on card changes, credit line inquiries, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with expense reimbursement, purchasing, and continuing education policies.
• Track continuing education expenses and maintain CE records by veterinarian.
• Manage veterinary and employee licenses, memberships, dues, and subscriptions.
• Complete credit applications as needed.
• Coordinate insurance for new vehicles.
• Manage annual fleet renewals and DOT reporting.
• Respond to and route accounting-related phone calls appropriately.
Requirements
• Associate’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of accounts payable experience.
• Customer service experience, both internally and externally.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Schedule
• Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
• Full-Time, Permanent position.
• On-site role based in Lexington, KY.
