DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead the organization’s financial operations and support the continued growth of our hospital system. This position plays a key leadership role in protecting the financial health of Rood & Riddle by overseeing accounting operations, strengthening internal controls and providing accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.


The Director of Finance will work closely with executive leadership, shareholders, department leaders and outside professional advisors to support day-to-day financial operations and long-term strategic planning. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, excellent analytical ability and the confidence to make proactive recommendations that support sound business decisions.


The ideal candidate is a highly organized, collaborative leader who can manage complex financial responsibilities while maintaining the caring, professional and ethical standards that define Rood & Riddle.


Primary Duties
• Contribute to the hospital vision by providing the highest quality service in a caring, professional and ethical manner
• Take appropriate steps to protect the assets and financial information for all Rood & Riddle entities
• Implement and enforce internal controls
• Manage and lead the accounting department including day-to-day procedures completed by accounting, billing and collections departments
• Monitor cash flow and make proactive decisions regarding use of cash
• Analyze and address day-to-day situations that impact the financials
• Work with clients, partners and vendors to resolve disputes escalated to executive management
• Assist in identifying and implementing strategic initiatives from a financial perspective
• Compile, review and analyze monthly financial statements and make statements available to shareholders
• Maintain monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and pass-through accounts
• Arrange and serve as the primary liaison for annual reviews and audits of the financial statements
• Perform month-end and year-end procedures for Rood, Riddle & Partners, PSC including subsidiaries and Rood & Riddle Foundation
• Create and maintain the annual budget
• Assure legal and regulatory compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Recommend new policies or changes to existing policies
• Facilitate and oversee acquisition projects
• Act as a liaison and assist auditors, legal consultants and other professional consultants


Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• CPA license required or in progress
• Five years of experience in accounting or a related field
• Management experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other computer functions
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Knowledge of accounting business processes including accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory and fixed assets
• Ability to apply accounting principles across multiple financial functions
• Ability to problem solve
• Ability to positively engage with staff throughout the company
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and take initiative without being asked


Preferred Skills
• Equine industry experience
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, TrinDocs or Concur
