Dr. Hugo Almonte is originally from Durango, Mexico. In 2013, he received a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and a minor in Biology and Chemistry from Morehead State University where he was a player of the NCAA Division I Tennis team. Dr. Almonte attended Purdue University where he obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with honors in 2017.

After veterinary school, Dr. Almonte completed a one-year surgical internship followed by a surgery residency at University of Tennessee in collaboration with a private practice in Lexington, KY. Dr. Almonte became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (Large Animal) in 2023.

Dr. Almonte’s professional interests include emergency surgery, orthopedic surgery, sports medicine and lameness. In his spare time, Dr. Almonte enjoys traveling and hiking with his fiancé and their two German Shepherds.
