2026 Rood & Riddle International Podiatry Conference

Date: April 26-28, 2026

Location: Rood & Riddle Conference Center,

Lexington, Kentucky

The 2026 Rood & Riddle International Podiatry Conference will feature distinguished speakers Peter Peers and Travis Burns, both recognized leaders in the field of equine podiatry. Peers, an expert farrier with extensive international experience, is known for his work in advanced therapeutic shoeing and collaboration with veterinarians on complex lameness cases. Burns, Associate Professor of Practice in the department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences and the Hospital Administrator of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech and a Fellow in the Worshipful Company of Farriers from the United Kingdom, is widely respected for his expertise in farrier science, education, and the development of podiatry techniques that bridge the gap between farriery and veterinary medicine.

Held every other year, the conference brings together experienced equine veterinarians and farriers from around the world for an engaging program of lectures and demonstrations. The event fosters collaboration and skill development, providing a platform for participants to exchange ideas, refine techniques, explore new areas of research, and strengthen connections between veterinarians and farriers in the pursuit of advancing equine podiatry.

Equine Upper Airway Symposium

Date: September 17-20, 2026

Location: Rood & Riddle Conference Center,

Lexington, Kentucky

This three-and-a-half-day symposium offers lectures and wet labs designed to present in-depth, current scientific information regarding pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis for upper airway (UA) conditions in the horse. The target participants for the meeting are veterinarians in resident training programs and clinicians who have not had the desired exposure to UA conditions in the horse. The number of participants will be limited.

Hats Off Day

Location: The Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, Kentucky

Hats Off to Kentucky’s Horse Industry Day is a celebration of the horse and its impact on the state of Kentucky. The day offers fun family activities, including arts and crafts for children, horse and pony rides, interactive educational booths, equine performance demonstrations and a $50,000 Grand Prix show jumping competition. From the average horse fan to the avid equestrian, Hats Off Day offers something for everyone. This is the only day of the year an entire family can enjoy the Kentucky Horse Park and all it offers, for free! Kentuckians who may not typically encounter close contact with a horse can enjoy hands-on experiences with horses and ponies of all sizes.
