Podiatry Services are available at all three of our hospitals: Lexington, Saratoga & Wellington.
Podiatry is one of the most important branches of knowledge for the successful management and long life of all horses, whether companions, pleasure horses, weekend competitors or elite athletes.
Rood & Riddle’s Equine Podiatry Center combines a staff of skilled veterinarians and farriers with advanced diagnostics, including digital radiography, PET scan, MRI and video gait analysis, to provide the optimum level of foot care. Our experienced team offers corrective shoeing for problems such as navicular syndrome, club feet, soft tissue injuries, pedal osteitis and angular limb deformities in young horses, and medical treatment and management of serious hoof conditions such as laminitis, hoof/coffin bone infections, puncture wounds, white line disease and canker. Our farriers design and make therapeutic shoes, pads and boots to fit changing foot conditions and custom-fit braces for surgical patients.
In addition to seeing patients at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, our equine podiatry team also provides ambulatory services to farms, offering expertise in abnormal conditions of the equine distal limb, performance horse hoof problems, sales preparation and breeding stock foot management, developmental problems in young horses and assistance in establishing preventive hoof-health programs for all facets of the equine industry, breeds and disciplines.
Our podiatrists make scheduled visits to facilities throughout the United States and provide foot care internationally.
