VETERINARY ASSISTANT/POTENTIAL PODIATRY APPRENTICE OPPORTUNITY
The purpose of this position is to assist an ambulatory podiatry veterinarian with day-to-day tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced, hands-on working environment. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits. This is for an off-site ambulatory position in Aiken, South Carolina.
Requirements
• Must be 18 or over
• This position is physical and requires full mobility with long periods of standing, walking, jogging and frequent lifting up to 75 pounds
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must lead self well by being a self-starter and taking action to learn the duties of the position to develop a sense of foresight to help expedite the day
• Must be able to work well as a team or individually
• Must be able to respect patient confidentiality and social media policies
• Must have good written and oral communication skills
• Must exhibit professional appearance
• Must have exceptional work ethic
Skills Preferred

• Basic computer skills
Primary Duties
• Assist with holding horses of all breeds and ages for procedures
• Assist in preparing horses for standing surgery or imaging procedures
• Hold radiograph plates for radiographs and learn to take radiographs
• Clean and maintain vehicle
• Replenish stock as needed
• Assist with billing
• Participate in continuous job training and educational opportunities
• Potential to learn how to do basic farrier duties such as trimming or finishing up with shoeing
Schedule
• Monday – Friday with a set start time but requires a flexible end time that depends on the caseload and time of year
