The Rood & Riddle Referring Veterinarian Seminar provides an educational forum for veterinary professionals. Hosted by Rood & Riddle, the presentations by Rood & Riddle veterinarians and external experts cover relevant and timely topics, creating a collaborative environment to enhance equine care quality.

Rood & Riddle International Podiatry Conference

Date: April 18 – April 20, 2024
Location: Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital
Lexington, Kentucky

The conference will explore key areas such as biomechanics, laminitis, and the latest innovations in the field. Distinguished speakers from the equine industry, including Andrew van Eps, BVSc., PhD., MACVSc., DACVIM, from the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center and veterinarian, associate professor and farrier, Jenny Hagen, DVM, PhD, CF, who brings expertise in equine orthopedics, rehabilitation, and farriery. They will be joined by Rood & Riddle podiatrists, Scott Morrison, DVM, Scott Fleming, DVM, CF and Craig Lesser, DVM, CF.

The wet labs offered are welding, venograms, foot mapping, glue-on shoe modification, prep and application of glue-on shoes, forging shoe modification, surgical approaches to the foot, hoof crack treatments, rocker shoe application, ultrasound of the digital limb and knife sharpening.

Hats Off Day

Date: July 27, 2024
Location: Kentucky Horse Park
Lexington, Kentucky

Hats Off to Kentucky’s Horse Industry Day is a celebration of the horse and its impact on the state of Kentucky. The day offers fun family activities, including arts and crafts for children, horse and pony rides, interactive educational booths, equine performance demonstrations and a $50,000 Grand Prix show jumping competition. From the average horse fan to the avid equestrian, Hats Off Day offers something for everyone. This is the only day of the year an entire family can enjoy the Kentucky Horse Park and all it offers, for free! Kentuckians who may not typically encounter close contact with a horse can enjoy hands-on experiences with horses and ponies of all sizes.

Equine Upper Airway Symposium 

Date: September 26 – September 29, 2024

Location: Rood & Riddle Conference
Center, Lexington, Kentucky

This three and one-half day symposium offers lectures and wet labs designed to present in-depth, current scientific information regarding pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis for upper airway (UA) conditions in the horse. The target participants for the meeting are veterinarians in resident training programs and clinicians who have not had the desired exposure to UA conditions in the horse. The number of participants will be limited.

The symposium is full and not taking additional registrations.
