Dr. Daniel Devis was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. At a young age, he acquired an interest in horses at his parent’s farm, where his dad taught him everything about the traditional Colombian cowboy style of riding, herding cattle and roping; he even participated in some endurance races around the Sabana of Bogota. He then attended San Martin University in Bogotá, Colombia, and received his Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry degree in 2012. Daniel completed a year-and-a-half rotating internship in surgery and anesthesia, followed by a two-year fellowship in equine lameness and diagnostic imaging, both at Lexington Equine Surgery & Sports Medicine under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. Wes Sutter. Dr. Devis obtained his American Veterinarian license in 2017; his areas of expertise include sport horse medicine, diagnostic imaging, pre-purchase exams and standard ambulatory work.
At Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, he hopes to expand his clientele in thoroughbred sales and the sport horse industry while providing excellent service to clients and their horses. You can easily spot Dr. Devis around the clinic and farms with his Blue Tick Coonhound, Louie, who goes to work with him every day.
