Dr. Karen Von Dollen was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. She completed her undergraduate degree at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, majoring in chemistry with minors in mathematics and biology, and playing lacrosse. She returned to California to attend veterinary school at the University of California-Davis. She continued her veterinary training with internships at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center (Los Olivos, CA) and Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital (Victoria, Australia), followed by a comparative theriogenology residency funded by the American Kennel Club/Canine Health Foundation/Theriogenology Foundation and Master of Science degree at North Carolina State University. Following her residency, she practiced theriogenology in Central Kentucky before joining the team at an equine specialty practice in Columbia, Missouri. Her love of the Bluegrass brought her back to Lexington. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling to visit friends and family and participating in dog sports with her Welsh springer spaniel, Nick.
