Dr. Shawn Morrell graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Following graduation, he completed a one-year hospital internship with Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY. Dr. Morrell is also a graduate of the Kentucky Horseshoeing School in Richmond, KY. After completing the farrier program, Dr. Morrell joined the podiatry center as a podiatry fellow from 2013-2014. 

In 2014, Dr. Morrell joined the veterinary staff at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY as an associate veterinarian specializing in equine veterinary podiatry. In 2022, Dr. Morrell moved to Aiken, SC with his wife and continues to practice equine veterinary podiatry with Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital. He travels back to New York once a month to provide equine veterinary podiatry services. Outside of Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, Dr. Morrell likes to spend time with his wife, Samantha, and their horses.
