Dr. Stephanie Carte is a highly skilled veterinarian with a passion for equine medicine. Born and raised in Lake George, NY, Dr. Carte developed a deep love for horses from a young age. Her journey in the equestrian world has been diverse, ranging from participating in 4-H horse shows and barrel racing to teaching riding lessons and retraining Thoroughbreds for eventing and dressage.

Dr. Carte pursued her undergraduate degree at SUNY Albany before attending The Ohio State University for veterinary school. After completing her veterinary education, she sought further specialization and expertise at Colorado State University, where she completed a one-year internship with their prestigious Equine Field Service team.

Throughout her career, Dr. Carte has always aspired to return to her hometown in New York and be close to her family. Joining the renowned Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital Saratoga was a dream come true for her. Dr. Carte considers herself fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside a group of exceptional doctors who provide invaluable resources and expertise.

Dr. Carte’s professional interests encompass equine behavior, lameness, and podiatry. She believes in taking a holistic approach to lameness, considering the entire body’s well-being. Dr. Carte finds great fulfillment in working with horses that require extra care and patience, as these cases allow her to demonstrate her compassion and dedication to their well-being.

When she’s not tending to her patients, Dr. Carte cherishes spending quality time with her family and her own beloved horse. She also enjoys immersing herself in the beauty of the outdoors.
