MEET STEPHANIE A. GIVAN, VMD, DACVIM (LAIM)
Dr. Stephanie Givan joined Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Saratoga Springs as a member of the equine internal medicine team. Originally from New York, Dr. Givan developed a passion for horses and veterinary medicine at an early age which ultimately led her to pursue a career focused on equine internal medicine, advanced diagnostics and critical care.
Dr. Givan earned both her Bachelor of Arts degree and Veterinary Medical Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Following veterinary school, she completed a rotating internship at a private equine referral hospital in Washington state where she gained extensive experience in equine emergency medicine, neonatal care, sports medicine and advanced diagnostic procedures.
She then completed a three-year residency in equine internal medicine at the Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia. During her residency, Dr. Givan focused on the diagnosis and treatment of complex medical conditions including gastrointestinal disease, respiratory disorders, endocrine disease, infectious disease and emergency and critical care cases in horses. She worked closely with horse owners and referring veterinarians to develop comprehensive treatment plans designed to support both performance and long-term health.
Dr. Givan is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Large Animal Internal Medicine (LAIM). Her professional interests include cardiology, neuromuscular disease, emergency and critical care, and neonatal medicine.
Prior to joining Rood & Riddle, Dr. Givan spent four years practicing in private equine referral hospitals throughout New South Wales, Australia. During her time abroad, she managed a wide range of challenging referral and emergency cases while collaborating with specialists in equine surgery, advanced imaging and critical care. Her international experience further strengthened her expertise in equine internal medicine and advanced veterinary diagnostics.
Dr. Givan recently relocated to Saratoga Springs with her husband and their dog, Marmot. She looks forward to serving the equine community throughout the Northeast and partnering with horse owners and referring veterinarians to provide advanced equine medical care and diagnostic services.
