EQUINE RECOVERY & BARN ASSISTANT

Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital is seeking an experienced and dependable Equine Recovery & Barn Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time, hands-on position that plays an important role in helping horses safely recover following surgery and anesthesia.

The Equine Recovery & Barn Assistant will begin the day assisting with stall cleaning and general barn duties before transitioning to the recovery area. This position requires significant equine handling experience, physical strength and the ability to work confidently around horses during the recovery process.

Starting wage is dependent on previous experience.

Primary Duties
• Assist horses during recovery following surgery and anesthesia
• Handle and monitor horses throughout the recovery process
• Assist with stall cleaning and general barn chores
• Maintain clean and organized recovery and barn areas
• Safely handle a variety of horses, including Thoroughbreds and other high-energy breeds
• Follow Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital patient care and safety protocols
• Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians and other members of the patient-care team
• Assist with additional recovery and barn duties as needed

Requirements
• Minimum of two years of horse-handling experience other than your own horses preferred
• Ability to confidently and safely handle horses in a clinical environment
• Ability to consistently lift 75-125 lbs
• Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift
• Ability to work a schedule with a consistent start time and flexible end time
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
• Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital participates in E-Verify

Skills Preferred
