MEET DR. RACHELLE THOMPSON

Dr. Rachelle Thompson graduated from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, VA in 2017. Following veterinary school, she completed a year-long internship at B.W. Furlong and Associates in Oldwick, NJ. She then pursued residency training in large animal internal medicine at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, achieving Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in 2024.

 

Dr. Thompson has special interests in neonatology, gastrointestinal disease, respiratory disease, neurologic disease and cardiology. Her research has centered on glandular gastric ulcers in horses. Known for her strong client communication skills, Dr. Thompson is passionate about educating and supporting horse owners as they navigate challenges with their animals.

 

A native of Huntington, WV, Rachelle’s dream of becoming a veterinarian began early—she even drew a picture of herself in the role as a kindergartener. She competed in three-day eventing throughout her veterinary studies and remains active in equestrian pursuits. In her free time, Rachelle enjoys sewing, hiking and spending time with her cat, Stitch.
