MEET DR. TESSA TEARDO

Dr. Tessa Teardo is a Connecticut native who showed interest in horses and learned to ride at an early age. Her appreciation of equine medicine developed through work at an equine hospital in New York, where she became passionate for both hospital and ambulatory medicine. She attended the University of Kentucky for her undergraduate studies, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology. During her time in Kentucky, she spent summers gaining more experience in ambulatory medicine at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital. She later went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2023.  Upon veterinary school graduation, Dr. Teardo completed a year-long ambulatory internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital’s Lexington location, and has since joined the ambulatory team in June 2024 as an associate.

Her primary interests include sports medicine and lameness, as well as reproduction, neonatal medicine and emergency medicine.

In her spare time, she enjoys being with friends and family, as well as her German Shorthaired Pointer, Grady, who often joins her in the truck when out on farm calls.
