LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN SURGERY DEPARTMENT 

Technicians provide preoperative care for surgery patients, assist the anesthesia team with preoperative physicals and induction and maintain operating room stock and sterilization. Technicians will also assist surgeons while maintaining sterile and aseptic techniques and ensuring surgical instrumentation is kept appropriately.

Primary Duties

• Assist the anesthesia team with preoperative physicals and induction

• Prep surgical site using predetermined sterile techniques

• Maintain operating room stock and sterilization

• Assist surgeons while maintaining sterile and aseptic technique

• Ensure surgical instrumentation is kept appropriately

• Clean and sanitize preoperative areas as well as surgical suites

Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods

• Teamwork and communication are essential in this facility

• The candidate must be flexible with hours and willing to work overtime when needed

• Must have previous equine experience with horses other than their own

Schedule

• Full-time

• Monday-Friday daytime

• Some overtime may be required

• Some weekend shifts may be required
