THERIOGENOLOGY LAB TECHNICIAN
Now Interviewing: Seasonal Equine Theriogenology Support Staff – 2026 Breeding Season
Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Wellington, FL is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Theriogenology Lab Technician to support the reproductive medicine team for the upcoming 2026 breeding season, beginning in February. This position provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced equine reproductive setting while working alongside experienced veterinarians and technicians.
As a member of the Theriogenology team, you will play a critical role in supporting daily reproductive procedures, laboratory operations, and patient handling. This position requires strong attention to detail, physical stamina and the ability to work efficiently under pressure in both clinical and barn environments.
PRIMARY DUTIES
• Assist with daily theriogenology procedures and department setup
• Process, evaluate, package and ship semen samples
• Submit and manage laboratory samples
• Handle mares and stallions safely during examinations and procedures
• Maintain detailed and accurate veterinary and laboratory records
• Manage schedules, charts and basic billing tasks
• Clean, stock and organize laboratory and treatment areas
• Restock supplies and maintain inventory
• Follow hospital biosecurity protocols and departmental standards
• Support veterinarians and team members as needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned by clinicians or department leadership
REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Ability to verbally communicate with clients and team members
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate practice management systems
• Ability to perform clerical and administrative tasks
• Ability to consistently lift 50–70 pounds
• Ability to stand, bend, and work on your feet for extended periods
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Experience maintaining detailed veterinary or laboratory records
• Prior equine handling experience preferred
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize efficiently
• Strong work ethic and reliability
