Dr. Curtiss is originally from Maryland, where she grew up on a small farm. She attended Vanderbilt University for her undergraduate degree, followed by the University of Pennsylvania where she earned her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD). She then completed a hospital internship at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital from 2014-2015.

Dr. Curtiss returned to University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center for an internship and her large animal surgery residency. She became boarded with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2020. Dr. Curtiss spent a season practicing in New Zealand following her residency and then returned to the United States where she has been practicing in New Jersey for the past five years.

She is published on a variety of subjects including orthopedic surgery, upper airway surgery and advanced imaging.

She is married to an equine practitioner and they have one daughter, Emma, a Thoroughbred event horse, a Standardbred racehorse and two Weimaraners.
