MEET DR. E. ASHLEY EMBLY
Dr. Ashley Embly grew up in Charleston, SC riding and showing hunters and jumpers. She also participated in pony club, foxhunted and evented through preliminary. She earned her undergraduate degree from Clemson University, and later moved back to Charleston where she continued to horse show and manage Old South Carriage Company. She then relocated to Philadelphia and opened a historic walking tour business. After this endeavor, she obtained her captain’s license and opened a boat tour company on the Potomac River in Washington, DC.
While she enjoyed her new adventures, her passion for veterinary medicine led her to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 2011. She then completed a year-long ambulatory internship under Dr. Jeffrey Cook, Dr. Scott Pierce and Dr. Thomas Riddle with a primary focus in reproduction, sales and emergency work. Following her internship year, she stayed on as an associate at Rood & Riddle and spent a year as the resident veterinarian at Stonestreet Farm, where she delivered foals by night and spent her days building a sport horse practice. After the year with Stonestreet, her practice became almost exclusively sport horses, and in the winters, she started following the circuit to Florida.
Her areas of interest include competition horses and lameness. She also enjoys spending time with her 16-year-old daughter, Savannah, who is an avid equestrian.
