MEET DR. ERIN LOHBECK
Dr. Lohbeck grew up outside Cincinnati, Ohio, and gained an interest in horses in high school. After several years of learning dressage and eventing, she became acquainted with combined driving and coaching teams. She traveled the country as a professional groom for four in-hand teams for six years, including participation in shows such as the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair, the 2010 World Equestrian Games, and the 2021 World Championship for Pairs in Kronenburg, Holland.
She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and then graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University in 2018. Following veterinary school, she completed an ambulatory internship with Dr. Woodrow Friend and was hired as an ambulatory associate to take over veterinary management of the embryo transfer recipient herd. Throughout her time at the recipient herd, she worked closely with Dr. Etta Bradecamp and the other theriogenologists to learn advanced reproductive techniques. In 2025, she completed a non-traditional residency in theriogenology and became board-certified with the American College of Theriogenologists.
Her interests include embryo transfer, oocyte aspiration, and problem mare management. In the off-season, Erin enjoys cooking and baking, competing in agility with dogs, Pippa, Briar, and Wren, and traveling with her husband, Daniel, and their friends.
